Actor, Director, Acting Coach for TV, Film & Theater, PETA Senior Artist-Teacher, Isprikitik Musical Improv Founder

Norbs Portales is a Freelance Actor for Stage, TV & Film, Acting Coach, Director, Organizer-Leader, a Workshop Facilitator, and Trainer. He is a Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) Senior Artist-Member and Senior Faculty.


As an actor, Norbs was part of PETA’s International Production “Infanta” for the Theater Global Fest (May 2009) in Stuttgart, Germany. He was the only Filipino artist in the 4th ASSITEJ Korea International Artist Residency Programme (November 2011- January 2012) in South Korea together with fellow artists from South Korea, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Japan. He was also a scholar for the New York-Manila Musical Theater Workshop (January 2014) at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He was part of PETA’s “3 Stars and a Sun”, “Ako si Josephine” “A Game of Trolls”, “Tagu-taguan, Nasaan ang Buwan?” and the comedy musical on Federalism --“Charot!” to name a few. He was nominated for Male Featured Performance in a Play for his acting in PETA’s Tempest Reimagined in the 2017 Gawad Buhay for the Performing Arts.


He is the founder of Isprikitik Musical Improv, the freshest musical improvisation troupe in Metro Manila.


As a director, he was the performance director for Team Jhong and Karylle’s Magpasikat 2017 & 2018 musical performances for ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime”. For PETA, he directed a Philippine Commission on Women performance on VAW-C and a touring Lecture- Performance on Philippine History performed in Sydney and Blacktown, Australia on March 2019 (Canada Tour for March 2020 was cut due to COVID-19 Pandemic). He directed the live event creative performances for Pfeizer BioPharma National Convention in 2020. He also led an Online Creative Campaign on Promoting Positive Parenting and Discipline as it’s Festival Artistic Director.


He designed and facilitated different creative training and workshops for different communities tackling positive discipline, voters education, children’s rights, sexuality education, gender sensitivity training, and community-managed disaster risk reduction, health education, cultural education, among others. He was part of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education National Writeshop Workshop. He is currently part of PETA’s faculty focusing on Theater-in-Education, a specialized course for teachers, and the integration of the Creative Pedagogy in the school curriculum. He also facilitated the PETA International People's Theater Workshop for foreign cultural workers and artists. He is currently PETA’s curriculum Consultant for Adult Courses leading in the development of new online courses and training for the company.


He is presently the Chairman of the Forum for Theater Training and Education (FTTE) of the International Theater Institute (ITI) – Philippine Centre.
