Matt has been acting since he was in elementary school. Matt has undergone training as an actor from mentors such as Ron Capinding and Angeli Bayani. His past roles in theatre over the years include Shylock in Negosyante ng Venecia (William Shakespeare, translated by Rolando Tinio, 2009); Alkalde in The Inspector General (Nikolai Gogol, translated into Filipino by Ron Capinding, 2012); Elias in Ang Mga Pinag-uusig (Bonifacio Ilagan, Tag-Ani Performing Arts Society, 2015); and Emilio Aguinaldo in 2Bayani (Zosimo Quibilan, Jr. and Khavn, Arete Ateneo, 2022). Outside of the theatre, has had roles in indie films such as James in Para kay James (Steven Evangelio, 2018); and as a Villager in Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (TBA Productions, 2018).

Matt has also had dance training through various dance classes since childhood. Notably during his time as part of the University of the Philippines Pep Squad, he went through training under JM Cabling and Peter Alcedo. During this same period, he also won a gold medal for Formation Ballroom for UAAP in 2016.

As a graduate from the Broadcast Communication program of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, Matt has also gotten training in radio and voice performance from teachers such as Mel Estonilo and Pinky Aseron. He had also been part of the Rookie Radio program of 99.5 Play FM, when he would go live on air on weekends with his fellow rookies. He uses this training as a freelance voiceover talent, doing VO’s for corporate AVP’s, ads, and live events. Matt also takes the stage during live events as a host for debuts and weddings, also having been a singer and dancer for children’s parties.
